Kingdoms of amalur

Been waiting for a chance to get my hands on this for a while, and it's definitely worth the wait. If I was gonna take the best parts of most of the adventure RPGs I've ever played to make a game, this would be the result.
It shouldn't work, it should fall apart in an incoherent mess of muddled parts, but it all comes together like a game of soggy biscuit. It's like skyrim but with better item management, it's like mass effect without being on rails, it's like fable but with a better combat system. The areas are huge huge but a decent fast travel system takes the sting out of it.
There are negatives but these are just minor things, some of the on screen hints are a bit intrusive and the auto save is hit or miss. And some of the accents seem a little out of place but who am I to say that a gnome can't sound Liverpudlian.
Easily one of my favourite games I've played this year.

Mass effect 2+3

After the 8 playthroughs the first game took to get 1000 gs on, I was expecting a little more from both the sequels....the graphics have been upgraded massively but I feel at the cost of longevity. Both games are shorter than the original and I was sad to see the demise of the planet exploration from the first. Neither game should require as many plays to get the 1000 gs/platinum but after 2 runs on me2 and 1 on me3 im more than happy to give it then a rest before the final push for the completion. There has been a lot of furore about the ending to me3 but in all honesty I have had worse endings and I didn't really have a problem with the one I chose out of the 3 available. I recommend both games to anyone .... Unless you're not a fan of reading, not as text heavy as most RPGs but still enough dialogue to put some people off.

Reboot

Wow...after a long period of inactivity I've managed to get access of my blog again. It's been a crazy few years, I've had to deal with the break up of my relationship with the mother of my children and finances which were never my strongpoint have had to take priority over everything. That said, with the generosity of friends I've managed to keep a steady run of games on the go, far too many to list but will try to keep on top of things from this moment on.

MULTI FORMAT GAMING

You may have noticed I've been away awhile and this is for a couple of reasons
1). i now have a PS3 and have been trying to decide if i should continue this blog in its current state or if i should change its appearence to reflect my new outlook on gaming in general.
2). i forgot my password......i am absolutely terrible with remembering passwords to websites.i have so many to choose from and every now and then a site will demand i change my formula by asking for a new configuration of numbers/letters/dots/dashes/semaphores....this grinds my gears lol.
3).since getting my PS3 ive just been whoring trophies constantly with not really any spare time to devote to other activities such as xbox or blogging.

Yes the playstation is different and im not going to get drawn into arguments over which console is the best.I'm no fanboy and i cant be bothered by all that. All i will say is that both consoles have their strengths and weaknesses. All that can be said is that i have only had the xbox turned on because of the superior party chat in the last few months so that i can talk to friends while playing on the playstation.
The main decision for the change in focus was the fact that i was actually bored of achievements and gaming in general.Since hitting 100k gamerscore i felt there wasn't much else to do,and the achievements then turned into "just another number".This was where sony came in and offered new challenges and seeing as trophy support is still fairly new,i can be a lot more competative.
heres to gaming in general.

The quiet period

As promised, after i hit the 100k mark,Ive started to take it easy on the achievement whoring, circumstances out of my control have also contributed to me not updating my blog for a while, but i have not been totally inactive.
A nice quick game appeared called LEGO:BATMAN......2 1/2 day turnaround for the full 1000 points, although i really do think the LEGO games are getting a bit stale now with this installment not being as fun to play as either the indy or starwars games. There were a few nice touches, and the whole experience was less stressful as the others although not having online co-op is a huge oversight in the current state of the gaming market.
I have also been asked by the guys at gamingladders.eu to have a look at the xbox side of their site and write some reviews and stuff to help the community out.Fear not,i will be keeping this blog in the same capacity as it is now, while providing the guys at gaming ladders with more in depth reviews.
watch this space for fable2 and the might hype machine that is gears of war 2

magic numbers

I finally reached my target today of 100k gamerscore,i couldnt have done it without the help of a lot of people ive been fortunate enough to meet along the way,i wont name names cos i know some of you will get all shy and stuff.
It has been a long haul though, and i will be calming down a bit,I've been hammering the points for a while now and the stresses involved have taken its toll, not to mention the friends ive lost along the way(mainly through clashes of personality and ,my often volatile temperament).
THANK YOU! YOU'RE ALL STARS

Soul calibur 4

I'm not a big fan of beat 'em ups normally, tekken bored me,virtua fighter didnt light my fire and streetfighters just went stale, but the soul caliburs have always been good to me in the past.
I was a bit hesitant in buying the game after being owned online in dead or alive and it wasnt something i wanted to go through again. The achievements looked fair and im just a sucker for games with chicks that have large breasts in.
The game itself is well done, the graphics are sweet and the onus is on fun rather than having to learn every move to get anywhere near finishing it (im lookin at you vf series).
Some of the characters are a challenge to fight against and some are practically useless to take control of,but theres a fighting style for everyone, especialy perverts that like big mammaries.
theres plenty of game modes to keep you occupied although none are anything new to the genre. The game is a must have just so that everyone can have the chance to beat the shit out of that little green b**tard that is yoda.
